Whilst at Loughborough University studying for my degree Romain Record and I became good friends. At the time I was living in 84 Leopold Street, a grotty 3 Bed student house which must have hit its peak back in the 1960’s. Romain was also living in rented accommodation which was quite frankly, appalling.
We soon realised that as a student paying a large percentage of our money each week on rent the standards should have been much better then what both of us were getting.
Having completed both our Degree’s and Masters at Loughborough Romain and I had 1st hand experience of what student housing should be about in terms of the standard of living and the service provided.
From this, Top Lets was born in 2002 from an idea that student houses should no longer be dirty, dingy, rotten old houses that have been furnished with your grandparents left over furniture. We knew exactly what we wanted as students when we looked for somewhere to live and it wasn’t out there.
